Description:
Mountain Lake Biological Station (MLBS), a University of Virginia field station in Pembroke, VA, will hold its annual Open House on Saturday, June 29, 2024.
This family-friendly event offers the opportunity to meet MLBS scientists and artists, explore historic facilities, and learn first-hand about Station research. The public is invited to get up close and personal with a variety of organisms, visit open labs and art studios, get their feet wet in the pond, make crafts, participate in a variety of hands-on activities, take tours of the National Ecological Observatory Network (NEON) tower site, and more.
MLBS is a diverse community of scientists, students, and artists from around the world who conduct research, take field-based courses, and create art on top of beautiful Salt Pond Mountain. The biological station is adjoined by the Jefferson National Forest, the Mountain Lake Wilderness, and the Mountain Lake Lodge and Conservancy.
Carpooling is encouraged as parking is limited. Dogs are not allowed.
