Description:
The Alexander Black House & Cultural Center presents Bike Day on Friday, June 16, 2017.
Celebrate the opening of our latest exhibit “The Bicycle Culture of Blacksburg” by joining us for Bike Day!
We have lots of fun & educational activities planned for the day, including:
• A Family-Friendly ride on Blacksburg’s Huckleberry Trail – The nearly six-mile trail goes from Blacksburg to Christiansburg along the old path for the Huckleberry Train, providing a safe and scenic place for families to ride. We’ll depart at 5:15 PM and travel a shorter distance, from the Alexander Black House to near Stadium Woods. Don’t forget to bring water and a helmet!
• Bike Maintenance Workshop – Learn the basics of maintaining your ride! Presented by Scott Owens of The Bike Barn in Blacksburg and the New River Valley Bicycle Association. Program begins at 6:15 PM.
• Blacksburg Bike Party! – We will close out the day with a party-on-wheels led by Jennifer Million, who regularly leads bike parties on the streets of Blacksburg. We’ll depart from the Alexander Black House at 8:30 PM. Bring your bike, helmet, and bike light, and we’ll provide the music!
Admission is free and all are welcome.
