The Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery presents their 2017 Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 29, 2017.

The program will be led by co-Master of Ceremonies Ben Crawford and Mike Chrisley.

Program Schedule:

• 9:00 am: Music prior to the program by the Brass Quintet of Patrick Henry High School Band directed by Daniel Holland. Special music by bagpiper Andrew Shields Meeks.

• 9:30 am:
- Welcome by Ben Crawford.
- Invocation from Chaplain James E. Tolliver
- Posting the Colors by Criminal Justice Color Guard
- 21 Gun Salute from American Legion Post 58 of Newbern
- Pledge of Allegiance led by Aaron Kirby of Boy Scout Troop 249
- Singing of America led by Pulaski County High School Singers
- Roll Call of Veterans by Military Service
- Brief Comments and Introduction of Speaker by Clinton Guy Cox
- Speaker The Honorable Nick Rush
- Placing of Wreaths by Service Organizations & Special Guests
- Retire the Colors by Criminal Justice Color Guard and BSA.
- Benediction by Chaplain James Tolliver
- Taps
- Announcements & Adjournment (All are invited to reception & site visitation

10:20 am: Benediction by Mike Honaker

To commemorate Memorial Day, flags will be placed on all grave sites and the Avenue of Flags will be erected along the circle drive. The administration office will be open from 8 am until 3 pm to assist veterans and their families with grave site location, general information, and filling out the cemetery pre-application form.

The annual Memorial Day Ceremony is possible due to an ongoing partnership between service organizations such as the New River District of Ruritan National, Inc. and the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery Memorial Day Planning Committee volunteers.
