Alexander Black House & Cultural Center presents Clemson Tailgate Party Fundraiser on Friday, September 29, 2017 at the historic Linkous Home.

Join us for a Tailgate Party Fundraiser benefiting the restoration of The Alexander Black House & Cultural Center the Friday evening before Virginia Tech’s big game against Clemson! Hosted by Larry Linkous at his family’s historic home in Blacksburg, VA.

The Historic Linkous Home was built in 1798 by Heinrich Linckost, an ancestor to many of the region’s well known families who first came to the area to work as an indentured servant at Smithfield Plantation. Although the home has gone through a number of changes, it has stayed with the Linkous family for more than 200 years and still retains many of its original features.

While the home itself is impressive - the huge collection of antiques and historic artifacts compiled by Larry Linkous are enough to fill multiple museums. As an auctioneer and avid history buff, Mr. Linkous has amassed hundreds of items related to local, state, and national history, including: Bodell pottery made in Blacksburg, milk bottles from the old VPI creamery, Civil War artifacts, and a clock that dates to 1690.

We’ll have the big tent set up so this is a RAIN or SHINE event.
