Description:
The Hahn Horticulture Garden at Virginia Tech presents the talk "Birds, Bees, Flowers, Trees: The Phenological Impacts of Climate Change" on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at the Fralin Life Science Institute Auditorium.

Join us as Dr. Jeremy Hoffman, climate and earth scientist and the Science Museum of Virginia, tells the story of local climate change and its impacts on our health, recreation, and daily lives. Jeremy regularly engages with audiences of all ages and backgrounds to explore climate change and how it works on multiple timescales from human (decades) to geologic (millions of years).

Public conversations about and understanding of climate change tend to focus on far-off impacts like changing sea-levels and Arctic sea ice coverage – events that are generally perceived to be non-threatening to daily American life. In this talk, Dr. Hoffman will share some tactics that have been shown to increase the positive impact of climate change communication for different types of audiences, ranging from “K to Grey”.

Admission is now free and is limited to the first 100 guests.

Sponsored by the Hahn Garden, Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology, and the Global Change Center.

The Fralin Auditorium is located at 360 West Campus Drive in Blacksburg, VA on the campus of Virginia Tech.
