Science on Tap New River Valley and the Virginia Tech Center for Communicating Science presents "An Evening of Humor with Science Comedian Brian Malow" on Monday, February 26, 2018 at The Moss Arts Center at Virginia Tech.

Enjoy an evening of laughter and science appreciation! The comedian promises that by the end of the evening, you’ll have a new appreciation for gravity, you’ll understand why he says your voice is sunshine, and you’ll never look at birds the same way again.

Brian Malow will be onstage in Blacksburg to share two decades' worth of experience in making both scientists and non-scientists laugh and appreciate science.

Brian has performed for the American Chemical Society, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), JPL, Scholastic Library Publishing, the National Association of Science Writers, the Koshland Museum of the National Academy of Sciences, Apple, Dell, and Microsoft.

He has co-hosted "Hacking the Planet" and "The Truth About Twisters" on The Weather Channel, and has appeared on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson (CBS) and on Tech TV, Discovery, and A&E.

Brian has produced and appeared in science videos for Time Magazine’s website, and audio essays for Neil deGrasse Tyson’s radio show. He gives workshops and presentations to train scientists to become better speakers. Clients include the National Research Council of Canada, the National Science Foundation, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the American Geophysical Union

Brian worked in science communications at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh, and blogged for Scientific American. He is currently freelancing as a speaker, performer, consultant, writer, producer, and whatnot.

"It's as much about expanding the mind as it is tickling the funny bone," says one review.

This event is free and open to the public.

Science On Tap New River Valley community celebrates scientific thought and explores new discoveries through monthly events with a featured researcher. We kick off the event with games, comedy, or other fun things. Then, an invited guest researcher demos their research. And then we'll discuss, ask questions, learn together, and mingle.
