The Virginia Tech School of Performing Arts presents a Lecture with Filmmaker David Greenwald on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at the Recital Salon inside the Squires Student Center on the campus of Virginia Tech.

The New York native and creator of "My Father's House" David Greenwald began his filmmaking education at New York University. He attended the Tisch School of the Arts at the university, where he achieved an MFA in filmmaking. Greenwald began his media career as a music video editor after founding his own company called Ground Control Pictures. His work in this field includes editing videos and concert films for incredibly popular music artists around the world, such as Tupac Shakur, Mariah Carey, Bruce Springsteen, Eddie van Halen, Miles Davis, Stevie Wonder, Carly Simon, B.B. King, the Beastie Boys, and Luciano Pavaroti.

After creating The Well and working as a music video editor at Ground Control Pictures, Greenwald began branching out to edit the films of various world-renowned directors. His film editing credits include Jonathan Demme's documentary Cousin Bobby, Steven M. Martin's feature film Theremin: An Electric Odyssey, I.F.C. Productions' Ash Wednesday, and Ed Burns of Paramount Classics' Sidewalks of New York. The films Greenwald edited were featured at several prominent film festivals around the world and won numerous awards. Cousin Bobby was honored with a spot at the Cannes Film Festival; Theremin: An Electric Odyssey was featured at the popular and respected Sundance Film Festival and won the Filmmakers Trophy Award for Best Documentary there. Greenwald has also edited many television productions throughout his career. His T.V. editing credits include Oprah Winfrey's made-for-TV movie "Girlfriend", PBS's "Beyond the Moon", and Spike Lee of HBO's "The Curt Flood Story". Greenwald was recognized for his work in film when he won a prestigious Emmy Award for his work as the editor of "Girlfriend".
