Seph Custer is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist from Boones Mill, Virginia, offering a fresh look at American and handmade tunes. With many years of experience arranging music for groups in Southwest Virginia, as well as backing up groups and artists on stage, he's combined his talents to offer a diverse variety of acoustic songs, full-band jams, and intriguing covers.

For his first seven years in music, his career revolved around playing lead guitar, banjo, slide and mandolin for numerous rock, Americana, blues, punk, alternative, and traditional bands. He's fined tuned his sound over the course of two studio albums and over 600 live shows, combining his diverse music taste with his skill set from several instruments; all delivered with only vocals and a modified guitar.

Seph has been featured in The Floyd Country Store’s annual tribute concerts, covering Bob Dylan, Gordon Lightfoot, Carole King, and Paul Simon. In 2015, Seph's music was so well received at Callaway Brewing Company, they named a small batch German Wheat Ale "Sepheweissen." Seph Custer & The Papa Tom Band were included in Floydfest’s 2017 “Artists on the Rise” competition. In 2018, he became a member of Brackish Water Jamboree playing mandolin, joined them on tour, and performed alongside them in the “Rockn’ to Lockn” competition. He’s also appeared in Virginia Brew Hub Magazine, Appalachian Jamwich Magazine, The Roanoke Times, Blue Ridge Rocks, City Magazine, Roanoke’s Down By Downtown festival, The Nor-folk Festival, Pink Moon Festival, Blacksburg's Rock the Blocks and Steppin' Out Festivals, and WDVX's Blue Plate Special.

As well as being a performer and composer, Seph teaches acoustic & electric guitar, mandolin, banjo, ukulele, bass, violin, slide guitar, lap steel, dobro, and music theory at Downtown Music in Rocky Mount, The Handmade Music School at The Floyd Country Store, and Fret Mill in Downtown Roanoke.

The Wildmans, an acoustic string band hailing from the hills of Floyd, VA, in the heart of the Appalachian mountain music tradition, take inspiration from the old masters like Bill Monroe, Kenny Baker and Doc Watson, as well as many modern and non-traditional artists such as Chris Thile and Lake Street Dive.

With a base firmly in old-time roots music, The Wildmans push the genre boundaries with acoustic electric instruments and effects to create a bigger sound, with original jam vibes, modern classics and jazz standards, Bob Dylan and Tedeschi Trucks covers, all alongside favorite old time and original fiddle tunes.

The band has been performing regionally since 2011 and features the award winning talents of siblings Eli on mandolin and Aila on fiddle and vocals, joined by young banjo phenomenon Victor Furtado and backed up by bandmom Deb Wildman on bass. Highly skilled instrumentals and soulful vocals applied to traditional bluegrass tunes with a smattering of old time, blues, and jazz combine to create a fresh new sound, old tunes fueled by young spirit.

From campsite jamming at festivals and fiddler's conventions and classical music education comes the foundation for musical exploration that sets this group apart, taking the audience on a musical journey that reflects the growth and passion of these talented young musicians.

Ten years ago, Mary Jo and Charlie moved from Ohio to Patrick Springs, VA looking forward to retirement. Charlie is a tool maker and persistent inventor. Mary Jo retired from The Dayton Community Foundation as a charitable fund manager. They came to Patrick County along with their life-long friends Pete and Cindy Howe with traditional music and gardening high on their list!

For over twenty years, on weekend, some 3 and 4 day weekends, Mary Jo and Charlie were the rhythm core of The Dry Branch Fire Squad bluegrass band. Dry Branch traveled and played on the national bluegrass circuit in 44 of our United States and recorded 12 projects for niche record label, Rounder Records. In 1982 and in 1988 Dry Branch traveled and played internationally for the USIA to India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh and Morocco. They played The National Folk Festival in five states along with every type of venue imaginable.

In Patrick Springs, Preston Martin introduced Mary Jo and Charlie to Ron Pendleton and Tommy Morse. These super-musicians are as accomplished as any players on that national circuit and we feel fortunate that these genius musicians, along with other notable players like Sammy Shelor and Lou Reid, have chosen to remain here near their homes. Both Ron and Tommy, master musicians themselves, were raised in Patrick County, VA and learned traditional music from first generation Virginia masters. Ron and Tommy have traveled to France to play and in the 1990’s traveled and played extensively on the East Coast of the US.

It is notable that both Mary Jo and Ron have recorded music in The Library of Congress. These recordings are considered representative forms of traditional American music. Ron was only 14 years old in the 1970’s when he played guitar for his father, Delmar Pendleton, and a neighbor, Calvin Pendleton, in home recordings that were included on the Rounder Records album “Old Originals, Vol 1”. Mary Jo added vocals on the second Dry Branch Fire Squad recording in 1977 “Spiritual Songs from Dry Branch” also on the Rounder Records label and included as representative traditional American music in the Library of Congress.

Mary Jo and Charlie continued to record with Dry Branch on 12 subsequent LP’s and CDs through 2003. They have continued to self-produce five recorded projects in retirement!

In Patrick County, Mary Jo Leet on guitar and Charlie Leet on bass have teamed up with these super-musicians, Ron Pendleton on mandolin and Tommy Morse on banjo, to produce a program of highly-charged instrumentals as well as soul-stirring duets and trios that run the gamut from traditional bluegrass to gospel and old country hits.

Virginia Hollow is a mixture of Americana, Bluegrass, Country, Indie, and Rock. A singer-songwriter band that performs songs written by lead singer Carrie Hinkley, along with an occasional handpicked cover or two.

Virginia Hollow is a band and a sound born from the hills, valleys and mountains of Appalachia. Their performances and music take you on a journey fraught with raw emotions and stories of love, trust, betrayal and longing. When all is said and done, the haunting melodies of Carrie Hinkley's soulful voice are hard to shake off and instead keep returning and replaying in one's mind, like an untamed mantra of beauty and tragedy. This is a band whose time has come and needs to be reckoned with.
