Description:
Glencoe Mansion, Museum & Gallery presents a new holiday exhibit titled "Misfits, Ghosts and Grumps" premiering on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 and on exhibit through Friday, February 5, 2021.

During the holiday season each year, we all look forward to watching our favorite animated holiday movies and television specials. We all have our favorite characters, and our own opinions on which classics are a must-watch. The Glencoe Mansion, Museum & Gallery will highlight this holiday tradition with its new exhibit, "Misfits, Ghosts and Grumps".

The exhibit focuses on the main characters, or unlikely heroes, of four classic Christmas stories, which have all had multiple interpretations in print and film over the years. Each of the four period rooms will be decorated along the theme of one of these well-known characters: Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Jack Skellington, the Grinch and Ebenezer Scrooge.

All of these characters, in one way or another, helped spread Christmas cheer. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer used what set him apart to help Santa save Christmas. Jack Skellington, from "The Nightmare Before Christmas", brought Christmas to Halloweentown. The Grinch stole and eventually returned Christmas to Whoville, learning that Christmas is a feeling more than decorations. Finally, in the oldest story of them all, Ebenezer Scrooge starts out hating Christmas to only realize how important it really is.

Explore the exhibit and see how our modern culture has been shaped by these beloved characters. While here, check out the Glencoe Gallery Gift Shop, which is open the same hours as the museum, and is the perfect stop for your holiday shopping needs. From local art to books by local authors, our shop is a great way to support local artists while finding unique, one-of-a-kind gifts.

The Glencoe Mansion, Museum & Gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and Sunday 1:00 to 4:00 pm. The exhibit will be on display from December 1st through February 5th.
