The Big Lick Ruck will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2021 in Wasena Park in Roanoke, VA.

The Big Lick Ruck is a veteran suicide awareness event and prevention event that brings people together from the area to network for mental health support. The focus is bringing veterans together to assist in mental health and suicide prevention.

A "ruck" is a term used in the military for a long distance hike carrying equipment in "ruck-sacks". The key is completing the task as a group. The planned distance for the Big Lick Ruck is 14 miles and weight of the pack is suggested as 22 lbs, but that is not mandatory.

Suggested equipment includes: water, shoes/boots for long distance trek, sunscreen, snacks and branch and/or US flags.

The cost is $5.00 and additional donations are welcome. The cost includes food and water in addition to the event.
