Raq Roanoke presents "The Unofficial History of Bellydance" on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Warm Hearth Village's Tall Oaks Hall.

"The Unofficial History of Bellydance", is a theatrical and multimedia showcase of belly dance and its stories, both ancient and modern, from the Middle East and around the world.

Our showcase stars special guest workshop instructor and performer Ziah Ali, Director of Awalim Dance Company in Atlanta and Producer of TribalCon. She joins regional performers and instructors from Raq Roanoke, the Southwest Virginia Middle Eastern Dance Association, and Hill and Veil at Virginia Tech.

The Unofficial History of Bellydance will be entertaining and enlightening for the whole family!

Doors open at 6:30 pm. The performance begins at 7:00 pm.

About Raq Roanoke:
Raq Roanoke (from the Arabic raqs, “dance”) is an organization representing belly dance performers, instructors, and students with a mission to bring belly dance to Roanoke and the New River Valley. Raq Roanoke hosts workshops, haflas (belly dance parties), and performances; and partners with other local dance, cultural, and philanthropic organizations to provide entertainment for regional festivals and events.
