New River Rapids Flyball Club and Flying Fur! present the New River Rapid's Falling for Flyball 2017 Tournament for Dogs on Saturday, November 4, 2017 and Sunday, November 5, 2017 in the gymnasium at the Blacksburg Community Center.

Tournament Schedule:
• Saturday: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
• Sunday: 8:00 am - 3:00 pm

We invite you to come enjoy the controlled chaos that is our sport! Flyball is a very fast-paced (and loud) relay race for dogs. The tournament will feature 25 teams from three different states competing including three teams from local clubs.

At first glance, Flyball is quite the contrast to more traditional obedience based events. Loud with barking dogs and their handlers getting them amped up, it's like attending a rock concert versus a symphony. But don't let the apparent chaos fool you, these dogs are amazing athletes and spend many hours in training and practice.

Admission is free and leashed spectator dogs are welcome.

Suggestions for spectators:

• The racing dogs are VERY PUMPED UP as they come on and off the racing lanes. Please be sure to stay well back from them, and as always ask before you pet a dog. Most of our dogs love it during down times!

• If you have a dog with you, please be sure s/he is under firm control – most dogs are very excited by seeing the racing and might try to come join the fun!

• Please no flash photography.

• Please hold small children by the hand!

• Feel free to ask questions. Most competitors love talking about the sport and their dogs (if they’re not just about to go in the racing lane).

Once again we will be featuring a food truck each day for our competitors and spectators. Thai This will be on hand on Saturday and Rick's Wrap It Up on Sunday.
