The Virginia Tech School of Performing Arts presents the Virginia Tech New Music Ensemble Concert titled "Translucent Forms" on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at the Squires Recital Salon on the campus of Virginia Tech.
The inaugural concert of the Virginia Tech New Music Ensemble presents "translucent forms" featuring mostly experimental chamber works from the 21st century, including world premieres by Virginia Tech composition student DJ Malinowski and music faculty member Eric Lyon, as well as North American premieres by eminent European composers Jennifer Walshe and Peter Ablinger.
The New Music Ensemble focuses on the discussion, performance, and artistry of experimental music since 1970, including works of indeterminacy, free and structured improvisation, graphic notation, and contemporary performance practices.
The course is open to any student in the Virginia Tech community, including all instrument and voice types with director and applied faculty approval.
Admission is free and no ticket is required.
