Claytor Lake State Park presents the 2018 First Day Hike on Monday, January 1, 2018.
Start the year off on your right foot and join us on a hike through the park or enjoy a self-guided hike on one of our seven scenic trails. Free warm refreshments will be provided in the Meeting Facility from 11:00 am - 3:00 pm.
At 1:00 pm, Join Mary Rhoades of the Virginia Native Plant Society at the Marina Parking Lot for an easy walk to learn more about tree bark. Is it deal or alive? Can you identify a tree by it's bark? Is it poisonous to touch? What does bark do for the tree?
January 1st is also a free park entrance day so parking and admission are free.
