Description:
The Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech presents the 27th Annual Del Alamo/Hogan Business Ethics Symposium with Dr. Marc Edwards on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at the Graduate Life Center Auditorium on the campus of Virginia Tech.
The symposium will feature Virginia Tech's Dr. Marc Edwards, well-known for his work on the Flint, Michigan water crisis. In his presentation, "Truth-Seeking in an Age of Tribalism: Lessons from the Flint Water Crisis and its Aftermath," Dr. Edwards will discuss his role and that of collaborators in helping resolve water quality crises in Washington, D.C., and Flint, and lessons learned from these efforts.
He will emphasize the importance of truth-seeking by scientists and engineers, and the need to cultivate the scientist within all of us in the face of obstacles posed by bureaucrats and other actors with their own agendas.
Admission is free and open to the public.
The annual Pamplin Business Ethics Symposium was started in the 1990-1991 academic year and celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2015. The purpose of the Symposium is to focus the attention of students, faculty, and the wider university community on ethical issues in business and society.
