The Floyd County BackPack Program presents the 11th Annual Floyd Empty Bowls Fundraiser on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Floyd County High School.

Come for some great good, a beautiful pottery bowl to take home, and great community fellowship all to support the Floyd County Weekend Backpack Program, a program of New River Community Action (NRCA).

The cost is $15.00 per person.

• Bell Gallery and Garden
• Floyd Center for the Arts
• Floyd New River Community Action
• Red Rooster Coffee Roaster (now next to Post Office)
• Floyd Co. Visitor Center / Chamber of Commerce

The New River Community Action Floyd County BackPack Program helps eligible school children receive nutritious, easy-to-prepare food they need for the weekends. Each week NRCA volunteers purchase, pack, and deliver the food to the five Floyd County schools and NRCA’s Head Start Program. School staff then discretely distribute the food to participating children.

During the 2016-2017 school-year, the BackPack Program served an average of 153 children per week with a total of 177 unduplicated children served at the five Floyd County schools and the NRCA Head Start Program. The program is currently serving 281unduplicated children; a 59% increase. The program now costs approximately $800.00 per week.
