The New River Valley Bicycle Association is hosting a one-time screening of the film "Four by 3000" on Thursday September 13, 2018 at Regal Cinemas in Christiansburg, VA.
"Four by 3000" is a one-of-a-kind documentary which takes the viewers through a journey of non-stop action and drama of a six day straight bike race.
Synopsis:
Team Working Nation is staging to take part in Race Across America. Racing from Oceanside, California to Annapolis, Maryland teams of riders must complete over 3089 miles with 175,000 feet of climbing in under six days to have a chance of victory. Once the starting gun goes off time does not stop until teams cross the finish line.
For Team Working Nation, they have lofty goals – as returning champions they not only want to defend their title but also set a world record for fastest time crossing the country on bike. Four by 3000 offers an unprecedented look into the interworking of the Race Across America.
Shot in stunning 4k filmmakers captured the drama following the team set in front of the most amazing scenery found across the U.S. The film opens with a brief description of the year long process that goes into competing in RAAM and immediately moves into the action.
Throughout the six days of racing the team is forced to deal with vehicle breakdowns, crew conflicts, severe weather, and family tragedy while trying to stay focused on their goals. Leading to the tension is the nonstop caravan of support vehicles and crew that must live out of vans for six days with little to no sleep. Follow their journey with never before seen footage in a story about the human spirit and brotherhood/sisterhood all who take part in the event share.
