XYZ Art Gallery presents the Opening Reception for the art exhibit "Home" on Friday, August 31, 2018.
“Home” is an interactive art exhibit by Miranda Mauldon. Reimagining the gallery as an apartment, the exhibit will include handmade, up-cycled, and found art.
“Home” is an exploration of the idea that bread and water are a few moments’ work away from becoming toast and tea. That all of life’s necessities are a few moments’ work away from becoming comforting and beautiful. The exhibit is an interactive model apartment, filled entirely with furniture and decor that was thrifted, found in dumpsters, or handmade.
Most of the furniture and decorations will be for sale, and 50% of all profits will go to the Animal Hope Alliance.
The exhibit will on display from August 31 through September 15, 2018.
Admission is free and all are welcome.
The XYZ Art Gallery is Virginia Tech’s only student run art gallery and is open daily from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, except on Sundays.
The gallery is located at 223 North Main Street in Blacksburg, VA above Joe’s Diner.
