Virginia Tech Rec Sport hosts the Grand Opening for the Virginia Tech Venture Out Challenge Course on Sunday, August 26, 2018.
The Venture Out Challenge Course, a part of Recreational Sports, is a state-of-the-art high ropes challenge course. Construction of the course was completed in mid-August followed by 40 hours of training for the course facilitators.
Ali Cross, director of Recreational Sports said, “The course will offer a 14-foot level of elements that are designed to be tackled by teams. The 24-foot and 34-foot levels are more individual elements that will challenge participants. The stamina cage, which is on the ground, gives folks a chance to try out Ninja Warrior-type obstacles".
The event, which is free, will allow students, faculty, staff and community members to get a sneak peek of the course and try out some elements. No RSVP is needed and participants can come anytime between 3:00-6:00 pm.
To get to the Venture Out Challenge Course, attendees will need to park at the top of the Chicken Hill lot near the Marching Virginians Practice Facility. Recreational Sports will have signage and personnel to direct participants from there to the course.
Please note that it is a short walk on a gravel road, so comfortable shoes will be helpful. Assistance will be provided for those who need it.
Attendees are asked to wear clothing that is athletic in nature and must have on close-toed shoes to participate.
