Christiansburg Recreation Center presents the free class "Internet Safety & Social Media" on Monday, October 15, 2018.
This is a FREE class designed to educate parents and guardians about social media usage and internet safety in the lives of their children. Safety tips and information will be provided for the most popular apps used by kids today.
In addition, issues such as self-victimization (sexting), sextortion and cyberbullying will be discussed. This class will provide a basic overview of the cyber world and the effects it can have on children, both in social settings and in the criminal justice world.
Christiansburg Police Department Investigator Moe McClanahan will be the instructor for this class, which is presented by both the police department and the Christiansburg Department of Parks and Recreation.
Parents and guardians ONLY. Children will not be permitted to attend due to the sensitivity of the information.
The class is free however pre-registration is required. Please call the Christiansburg Recreation Center at 540-382-2349 or visit in person to register.
