Description:
Kodokan Aikido of Virginia Tech and Help Save the Next Girl presents "Intimate Partner Violence - How to Get Out, How to Help" on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at War Memorial Gym's Dance Room.
The speaker is Leslie E. Kausch, (Active Healing, LLC) who is a North Carolina Licensed Professional Counselor who specializes in working with clients dealing with trauma, relationship issues, grief, life transitions and parenting concerns.
She became licensed in 1994, and spent the first decade of her career working primarily with victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. She currently works in the private practice she established in 2010. She is also a 4th degree black belt in Aikido, the Japanese martial art of peace. Her practice of Aikido informs her work with clients, and she sometimes uses the mat space in her office to help female clients learn to take initiative for themselves.
Topics include:
• General information on domestic partner violence
• How to recognize a toxic relationship
• How to help (resources for help)
• How to protect yourself by taking care of yourself
