Description:
University Libraries at Virginia Tech and the Pamplin College of Business present the lecture "Cybersecurity and International Relations" on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at the Graduate Life Center Auditorium on the campus of Virginia Tech.
Cybersecurity has been a major global concern since the advent of the Information Age, but ts role in International Relations has begun to attract broad attention relatively recently. When embedded in cyberspace, international relations acquire a uniquely multifaceted and transdisciplinary character that spans business activities, political processes and social dynamics.
All of these are now at risk of cyber-manipulation by foreign state actors at a scale not feasible with traditional means, requiring new thinking about cybersecurity and international relations.
Attendees will leave with practical knowledge of how cybersecurity shapes international relations and learn the value of open scholarship in solving problems at the intersection of cyber and global strategy.
Admission is free and the event is open to the Virginia Tech community and the public.
