Claytor Lake State Park hosts their 2019 First Day Hikes on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 with all hikes starting at the Water's Edge Meeting Facility.

Hike Schedule:
• 11:00 am: Two-Mile Kart Hike of Vernal Pools
• 1:00 pm: Three-Mile, Two-Loop Hike
• 3:00 pm: Two-Mile Dog Hike

Join Claytor Lake staff members for either one of three guided hikes or self-guided hikes available at your own pace.

Guided Hikes will start off with the Karst Hike at 11:00 am. Join Brenda Graff on a two mile hike in search of vernal pools. The Two-Loop Hike starts at 1:00 pm. Join Mary Rhoades for this pleasant three mile hike appropriate for all ages.

There will be a Dog Hike at 3:00 pm. Join a ranger on a two mile walk with your four-legged loved one. We will be giving away First Day Hike bandannas to the first 20 pets. Pets must be on a leash no longer than six feet and you must clean up after them.

Claytor Lake State Park trail maps will be available for self-guided hikes to guide you along any of our seven clearly marked trails.

Parking fees are waived for the day and the hikes are free.

Free, warm refreshments will be provided at the Water's Edge Meeting Facility. The first 100 visitors will receive a First Day Hikes bumper sticker.
