The Virginia Tech Perspective Gallery, located in the Squires Student Center, presents the Opening Reception for "Heartworks: 2019 Martin Luther King Jr. Annual School-Aged Children & Teen Art Exhibit" on Friday, January 25, 2019.

Join the annual school-aged children and teen art exhibit celebrating the work of Martin Luther King Jr. The work in this show is inspired by the quote "I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear", which was taken from the speech "Where Do We Go from Here?"

Representing the work of regional kindergarten through 12th grade students. "Heartworks" are visual representations of how participants chose to "stick with love". At the center of the gallery is a sound booth, a collaboration between Newman Library and the Black Cultural Center. Patrons visiting this exhibit may record their stories about love which will be included in Perspective Gallery's spring "Black Love" exhibit.

Admission is free and open to the public.

The exhibit runs from January 22 – February 17, 2019.

Gallery hours are Monday from 6:00-9:00 pm, Tuesday-Saturday from 12:00-9:00 pm and Sunday from 1:00-5:00 pm.

Perspective Gallery is located in the second floor gallery in Virginia Tech’s Squires Student Center at 290 College Avenue in Blacksburg, VA.
