The City of Radford presents the 9th Annual Native American Heritage Festival on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Bisset Park.
Schedule:
• 11:00 am - Gates Open
• 12:00 pm - Grand Entry
• 1:00 pm - Kevin Locke Performance
Enjoy Native American music, dancing with the Aztec dancers, world renowned hoop dancer, flutist and storyteller Kevin Locke, vendors, storytelling and demonstrations along the banks of the beautiful New River in Radford, Virginia! Traditional traders, crafters and food vendors will be on hand with authentic arts and crafts reflecting the cultural heritage of the different tribes of Virginia, North Carolina and Maryland.
The Grand Entry starting at noon will be a procession of many tribal affiliations, head dancers, elders and children. The Master of Ceremonies Lowery Begay will direct the activities in the dance arena and will explain the symbolism, protocol and spiritual meanings of the dances, regalia and drums to the spectators. Medicine Scout will serve as the Host Drum.
All dancers and drums welcome! There is also a $250.00 Luck of the Draw for dancers in full Regalia.
The event is rain or shine.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket to enjoy the festival.
