Glade Road Growing and New River Land Trust present Kids in the Dirt: a Summer Farm Education Series with their first workshop "Soil, Seeds and Scavenger Hunt" on Saturday, April 20, 2019.

In the first workshop of the series, we’ll explore topics of healthy soil and compost, learn how to start seeds in cells, and bring a few home to transplant. We’ll follow a scavenger hunt to explore the farm environment and ecology, and enjoy a farm fresh snack together.

From seed starting to harvesting, garden art to feeding the animals, this fun and interactive series throughout the summer gets your kids up close and personal with local food production. This series is geared towards kids ages 5-12.

Supplies and a farm-based snack provided for each workshop. If your child has any dietary or medical restrictions, please indicate on the “order notes” section at checkout. Please dress appropriately for the weather and be ready to play in the dirt!

Kids in the Dirt is a unique series of workshops and a collaboration between Glade Road Growing and the New River Land Trust. All workshops will be held on Saturdays from 12:00-2:00 pm at Glade Road Growing. You will be asked to sign a waiver at check-in.

Workshops include:
• Hands-on education for kids that engages all the senses
• Opportunity to connect with nature- inspiring curiosity and wonder
• Exposure to and participation in planting, growing, harvesting and preparing food
• Freedom to explore and play on the farm
• Practical skill-building that boosts confidence
