Description:
Montgomery County Parks & Recreation, the National Forest Service and Game and Inland Fisheries present the 2019 Kids Fishing Day for ages 15 and under on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Pandapas Pond in Blacksburg, VA.
Kids ages 15 and younger can fish for free and enter their catches into the competition. Area game wardens will be on hand to measure fish. At noon, a whistle will blow and the fishing derby ends. There will be ribbons and prizes for the first and second largest fish, the third largest fish combined and the smallest fish. Join the fun!
Montgomery County Parks & Recreation will also be cooking hot dogs and serving lemonade.
Admission is free and no registration is required.
Several special regulations will be in place on Saturday to accommodate the event. Because the pond is stocked with large fish especially for this event, fishing is not allowed after noon on Friday until the event begins on Saturday.
No one older than 15 is allowed to fish on Saturday until the event is over - this is the kids' day.
Note: The trail around the pond will be closed to all use except the fishing derby from 8:00 am to noon.
