The Aware Foundation and the Christiansburg Police Department present the workshop for parents "Learn How To: Keep Our Kids Safe Online" on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at Blue Ridge Church in Christiansburg, VA.
All parents and guardians are encouraged to attend a special presentation on social media and internet safety led by Christiansburg Police Department Investigator Moe McClanahan. There are subtle dangers of social media that are either unknown, being ignored or minimized.
This is a free class designed to help educate parents and guardians about social media usage and internet safety in the lives of their children. Safety tips and information will be provided for the most popular apps used by kids today. In addition, issues such as self-victimization (sexting), sextortion and cyberbullying will be discussed.
This class will provide a basic overview of the cyber world and the effects it can have on children, both in social settings and in the criminal justice world.
No pre-registration is required.
The Aware Foundation promotes safety awareness for the missing and endangered, assists families in the location of and advocacy for the missing, endangered, and murdered or assaulted, works with law enforcement agencies and media outlets on missing person cases and educates students and communities on the dangers of predatory violence.
The Aware Foundation, Inc. is a national 501(C)(3) non-profit organization.
