Cube Fest is an annual spatial music festival that brings together a group of international music and audio technology experts, computer engineers, musicians, and composers who will present performances of original compositions created for the Cube and preexisting works.
Immersive Multisensory Performance from N/TOPIA Description:
Join us for a special evening of live performance and multimedia projection in the Cube. Each Immersive Multisensory Performance features contemporary multimedia concerts by international invited artists creating innovative works with the unique facilities of the Cube and the immersive projection potential of the Cyclorama. This performance features collaborative musical and experimental ensemble N/TOPIA and their live musical performance of the same name accompanied by generative panoramic visuals projected on the Cube’s Cyclorama.
N/TOPIA is an exploration of human exposure and response to the uncanny. This piece questions the relationship we as individuals have to concepts of utopia and dystopia and asks if these all too familiar ideals are in actuality mysterious and uncertain. Through a multimedia visual production originally created for a planetarium/dome setting and musical accompaniment in real time, this work dances on a plane between the controlled and uncontrolled, the utopic and dystopic. It is here in the in-between we find N/TOPIA.
Tickets are $10.00 and free for Virginia Tech students.
