Blacksburg Swing Dance presents their Live Band Swing Dance with The Southern Colonels and Dance Lesson on Friday, November 1, 2019 at the YMCA at Virginia Tech's Event Room.

Schedule:
• 7:45 pm: Beginner Dance Lesson
• 8:30 pm: Dancing

We are excited to welcome back the wonderfully talented Southern Colonels playing for us. If you haven't heard them play before, you are in for a treat, and there is nothing quite the same as dancing to live music. It's sure to be a great night!

The Southern Colonels are the official Virginia Tech Regimental Jazz Band performing big band jazz and swing with their 20 member band. The group will play music from the big band swing era, Latin, rock, and other jazz standards. The Southern Colonels are one of three ensemble groups of the Highty-Tighties, the corps' regimental band. They play at Virginia Tech, Corps of Cadets, student and organizational events.

Our dances have a friendly atmosphere, great for meeting other dancers and learning to dance. All are welcome and no partner is necessary.

Lessons start at 7:45 pm, please be on time. Dances follow immediately after the lesson at 8:30 pm.

Swing is a fairly athletic and sometimes fast paced dance, so we recommend that you bring a water bottle, light weight clothes, and comfy shoes.

There's a Blacksburg Transit stop right in front of the YMCA at Virginia Tech for those who need transportation.
