The Montgomery Museum of Art & History presents an Opening Artists Reception for Paula Golden and Larry Mitchell entitled "Glass and Fiber - Edges" on Thursday, September 5, 2019.
See and learn about different types of glass art from Larry Mitchell and enjoy the soft textures and intricate details of Paula Golden's quilts. Larry and Paula are exhibiting two very different, yet complementary types of art. Larry's glass work includes jewelry, plates, bowls, hanging items and much more mixing glass with other materials to create gorgeous colors and patterns in an extensive scientific process. Paula's quilts are detailed, colorful and often contain unexpected elements or motifs.
The exhibit will feature many works from both artists that tell a story. Golden’s work is influenced greatly by her life experiences. She utilizes different quilting techniques to reflect different times and aspects of her life. Mitchell’s work will offer a step-by-step look at how he creates his art. The installation will begin with simple fused glass pendants and become increasingly more complex, incorporating new shapes, materials and mediums
Admission is free.
The exhibit will be on display from September through October.
