Fine Arts Center for the New River Valley presents Nate Montgomery performing in The Listening Room on Friday, October 4, 2019 in the Edna B. Love Gallery.

Nate Montgomery performs original Americana, country, blues, bluegrass, old time and ballads.

Born and raised in Georgia, I began playing drums at the age of 10. Having played in countless bands through my teens and early twenties I began playing guitar at 20. I immediately began writing songs, in fact part of the catalyst behind learning guitar was as an outlet for much of the writing I was already doing.

Having listened to and played music most of my life I realized that as I learned the guitar I somehow already knew many of the old country and rock songs I grew up hearing, I just needed to find my own voice in them.

Whether through my own songs of trying to cover an old country or bluegrass song, or playing some old blues or folk songs or any other genre of music that appeals to me, my focus has been finding songs that I identify with and that I can hear my own voice in.
