The Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce presents the January 2020 Eggs & Issues titled "Housing: A Key Piece of a Vibrant Economy" on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Blacksburg, VA.

Affordable housing is important to the economic vitality of communities; ours is no exception. Affordable homes can attract and retain employees to our community – a selling point and a competitive advantage for our employers. Affordable housing also supports the local workforce so they can live close to their jobs. Shorter commutes allow workers to spend more time with their families while the community benefits from a reduction in traffic congestion, air pollution and expenditures on the roads.

To meet the diverse needs of our community, both rental and homeownership are important. We are in a housing shortage and this affects and will affect our recruitment and retention of talent. The NRV Regional Commission has worked diligently to examine the housing challenges in our community. Speakers include Kevin Byrd, Jennifer Wilsie and Mel Jones.

Seating is limited and reservations are required. Breakfast will be provided and is included with your registration.

The cost is $20.00 for Chamber Members and $40.00 for non-members for early registration. Final registration starts at 5:00 pm on the Tuesday before the event and is $30.00 for Chamber members and $50.00 for non-members

Breakfast begins at 7:30 am and the hour long program begins at 8:00 am.

The monthly Eggs and Issues program is held on the first Thursday of each month at the Hilton Garden Inn located at 900 Plantation Road in Blacksburg, VA.
