Description:
The Wilderness Road Regional Museum presents their annual Founder's Day and Swiss Celebration on Sunday, March 1, 2020.
Join the museum as we celebrate the Swiss Heritage of Newbern which was settled by many Swissers and early German families of the New River Valley including Newbern founder Adam Hance. Newbern, Virginia was officially founded on March 3, 1810.
Enjoy Swiss wines and chocolates along with the most delicious Alphine cheese you can imagine as part of our Founder's Day Celebration. There will also be music performed by the Greenwood Recorder Ensemble, living history led by the Fincastle/Montgomery Militia and the very special reading of the William Tell story by Radford University Professor Dr. Philip Sweet.
Tastings will be available for $10.00 which will include five Swiss Wines, two Swiss Chocolates and two Alphine Cheeses served in the original Hance Store to help honor the Swiss and German heritage of the founders and early settlers of "New"bern.
In addition to the Founder's Day Celebration, there will be a Newbern Founder's Day Feast starting at 4:30 pm inside the historic 1818 German Barn. Tickets are $40.00 and space is limited. For more information, visit:
