UPDATE: The Celebration at the Lyric Theatre, Saturday, March 14, has been canceled because of health concerns. The League of Women Voters of Montgomery County had been planning the Celebration to honor the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, giving women the right to vote and the founding of the League. As soon as it is appropriate, the League will be again planning events.

The League of Women Voters of Montgomery County, VA presents the event Celebrate 100 Years of Women Voting with Screening of "Iron Jawed Angels" and Toast on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at The Lyric Theatre.

Enjoy a free viewing of the film "Iron Jawed Angels" and enjoy a champagne toast reception to honor the 19th amendment to the constitution giving women the right to vote after the film at 4:00 pm.

"Iron Jawed Angels" is a 2004 biography film starring Hilary Swank, Margo Martindale and Anjelica Huston. Alice Paul and the women of the 1917 Women's Suffrage movement fight for future generations right to vote and run for office. Sacrificing their health, marriages and the limited amount of freedom they had, women were imprisoned and force fed after picketing and hunger-striking against war-time president, Woodrow Wilson, but survived to see the results of their efforts.
