Description:
The Literacy Volunteers of the New River Valley (LVNRV) presents the 14th Annual Virtual Scrabble Tournament Fundraiser for Literacy starting on Friday, May 8, 2020 through Tuesday, May 12, 2020 online from the comfort of your home.

Due to COVID-19, we're going virtual! Join us for the home edition of our annual Scrabble Tournament.

Competitors will play two Scrabble games at home and share scores and photos. All players will be entered in a drawing to win restaurant gift certificates from event sponsors.

The tournament takes place over five days and everyone plays two games.
You can play as an individual (against a friend, random person, or computer) or you can form a team of three (and come up with a creative team name) to enter our team category.

After you have completed both games, each player must submit their game scores to LVNRV using our online form available at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScSkMVei5NWeYSur9lrcPSYZYst04j7ZRQGQcc4jf8Uct_sBg/viewform?usp=sf_link.

Scores will also be accepted via email to info@lvnrv.org or calling 540-382-7262.

During the 5 days of the tournament, players are encouraged to submit photos of themselves and their teams (in costume, if you’re brave).
All games must be completed and scores reported by Tuesday, May 12th.
On Wednesday, May 13th, voting will take place for "Best Costume", "Most Creative Team Name" and "Most Spellbinding Play". Tournament Champions and award winners will be announced on Friday, May 15th.

The event is free, but please consider a donation to support local adult literacy. Usually, players pay a $35.00 per person ticket fee to participate in our annual Scrabble fundraiser.

All proceeds support free tutoring for adults to provide them with the skills they need for personal independence and family self-sufficiency.
