The Blacksburg Museum and Cultural Foundation presents a Historic 16 Squares Walking Tour on Thursday, July 9, 2020 throughout downtown Blacksburg, VA meeting on the front porch of the Alexander Black House.
Join local author and historian, Hugh Campbell on a walking tour of the Historic 16 Squares of Blacksburg beginning at 10:30 am. The 16 Squares are rich in history that is easily missed by an unaware eye. Discover the story behind the Blacksburg you thought you knew!
In 1798, William Black founded the Town of Blacksburg. Laid out in 1787 in a 16 block grid (the historic Sixteen Squares). William provided the initial 38 acres for the creation of town.
The tour is free, however advance registration is required and limited to 10 individuals. To register online, visit:

Masks are encouraged and participants must adhere to social distancing with other participants and remain 10 feet from the tour guide at all times. The tour is around 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Participants are suggested to wear comfortable shoes and bring a water bottle.
