UPDATE: This event has been cancelled due to expected rain and inclement weather in the New River Valley from Hurricane Laura.

Renew the New and the New River Valley Regional Commission present ReNew the New 2020: Giles on Saturday, August 29, 2020 meeting at Camp Success in Narrows, VA.

Volunteers will help clean up the New River from the water and on land meeting at 8:30 am. The first 80 individuals to volunteer will have the float option and boats will be available for use. Volunteers after the first 80, will clean up from the land.

The on-water volunteers will be bused, no more than 24 volunteers per bus with masks required, to Hale’s Landing boat ramp. All juveniles must have a parents signature to participate.

This year, for the safety and health of our volunteers during COVID-19, we are scaling back a bit to follow recommended restrictions. All participants and volunteers must pre-register and sign up online.

All volunteers will receive a free t-shirt. Please make sure you fill out your size on signup.

Volunteers should wear closed-toe shoes, bring gloves, sunscreen, water and bug repellent as needed.

ReNew the New sponsors two annual river clean-ups. In the spring is “Ramps ‘n’ Roads” and in the fall, “Fall Into the New”. Citizens of all ages, from all areas of New River Valley, will be cleaning litter from our highways and byways, boat ramps, river and stream access points. This year you can register to join one of four clean up efforts: Giles, Radford, Montgomery or Floyd. Anyone interested in protecting and renewing the beautiful New River is welcome to join in.
