Icebox the Band (Band)
Biography:
Blending lo-fi, stripped down instrumentation with complex vocal layerings and effects, Icebox the Band, based in Blacksburg, VA, markets their home-brewed indie rock style as a ‘medium-fi enterprise.’
The brainchild of college roommates and singer-songwriters, Tashi Gyatso and Jack Furth, the band was formed in 2019 after the two musicians found themselves living out of the same room while working on a farm in South Carolina. Returning to Blacksburg, Virginia with an abundance of written material and a bedroom studio equipped with a single microphone, Icebox the Band began work on their debut EP "Icebox". Gyatso’s classical music training and Furth’s lifetime of folk and pop composition meet in a deceptively simple space, inviting and melodic, but tinged with the members’ eccentric musical and lyrical sensibilities.
