Join Historic Smithfield Plantation at their annual Flags and Flowers Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 29, 2017. Join us for a low key observance of Memorial Day at the Preston Family Cemetery to honor our veterans. There will be a short talk on the Preston Cemetery and Memorial Day. The event will also feature an Honor Salute by the 24th Virginia Infantry / 83rd Pennsylvania Infantry and bagpipe music from Andrew Meeks. After brief remarks, the public is invited to place flags and flowers (provided) on the graves of veterans.
