Up on the Roof presents their August 2017 event on Thursday, August 31, 2017 starting at 5:30 pm on the rooftop of Kent Square in Blacksburg, VA. Up on the Roof is a social event for Creative Professionals and Grad Students. Our primary focus is providing an opportunity to make new friends and network in a social environment in downtown Blacksburg. Enjoy food, beverages, live music and fun! August music will be provided by Sonic Camel and food from Domino's Pizza New River Valley. In addition, the August non-profit sponsor New River Valley Habitat for Humanity will be collecting monetary donations for the Houston Flood Relief Effort with "Play it Forward" games. Their goal is to raise enough money to buy a truckload of building supplies for delivery directly to the affected area. In addition, Up on the Roof will be collecting a donation of supplies that the local police department will be sending to Houston. We are excited to feature local craft beef from Bull & Bones Brewhaus & Grill, Starhill Brewery and Devils Backbone Brewing Company from Blue Ridge Beverage Company, Bold Rock Cider from Virginia Eagle Distributing and wine from Beliveau Estate Winery. Water provided by Hope Chapel Blacksburg. In order to keep the high quality of our events through the season and help us attract young and creative professionals in the area that we hope will attend our events, we are asking you to consider donating $4.00-$9.00 (depending on the amount of drinks you want to consume) to our non-profit, Downtown Events Inc, (the producers of Up on the Roof) at the entrance. Non-drinkers the cost to get in is $4.00 to help us cover our overhead, food and entertainment costs. If you do not bring your own reusable cup, the cups are $1.00 each in addition to your donation. Up on the Roof meets on the last Thursday of every month from April through September on the rooftop of the Kent Square parking lot from 5:30-8:00 pm. At the end of the year, Up on the Roof donates a portion of our proceeds to a local charity. You must be 21 to enter - please bring your ID. Please adhere to our policy: No pets and please do not bring infants and/or children. Note: Heavy rain will cause event to be rescheduled.
