Description: Glade Road Growing and Sustainable Blacksburg present a Free Farm and Solar Tour as part of the 2017 Blacksburg Sustainability Week on Friday, September 22, 2017.

Schedule of Events:
• 5:00 pm: Farm Tour
• 6:00 pm: Solar Tour
• 7:00 pm: Music starts

You’re invited to Glade Road Growing to see first hand how we grow. During the tour we will look at some of our gardens, orchard, and see our chickens and ducks.

Come for the farm tour, but be sure to pick up some fresh local produce and meats, sample some of Blacksburg’s locally brewed beer, enjoy delicious hot food from the kitchen, and listen to some fantastic local musicians!

Glade Road Growing is a family-run small-scale vegetable and poultry farm within the town limits of Blacksburg, VA. Our operation is based on organic practices and soil building through cover crops, compost, crop and animal rotations and reduced tillage methods.

Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear.

While you’re there, come tour the solar installation that powers the farm and brewery! You’ll be able to see and interact with the equipment and get a live demo of the energy monitoring system that shows how the solar and grid work together to supply electricity to the facility starting at 6 pm. The tour will be led by Baseline Solar Solutions who designed and installed the sysetem to expound on our massive solar panel array.

Tour is rain or shine.

Added bonus: Tabula Rasa on Glade will be grilling this weekend so you can get some hot farm food for dinner after you burn off all those calories chasing JP around the farm.

Note that parking is extremely limited at Glade Road Growing. Please plan to bike, walk, or carpool to this event.
