Claytor Lake State Park presents a Gingerbread House Competition on Saturday, December 9, 2017. Have what it takes to win a gingerbread house competition? Come to our annual Christmas at Claytor Event to show off your gingerbread house making skills. The competition will be ongoing throughout the day as we will have some limited supplies available for use. However, we encourage you to build your gingerbread house at home and bring it. Age Categories: • Adult (18 years old + single entry or team) • Teen (13-17 years old single entry or team) • Youth (9-12 years old single entry or team) • Child (5-8 years old single entry or team). Rules: • House can't be larger than 24" wide, 24" long, 24" high. • Everything above the base of the house must be made completely of edible materials. • Entries must be positioned on a board base. We recommend thick cardboard or 1/2" or 3/4" plywood. • Designs are not limited to the structure of a house. • Entries will be judged on: 1. Overall Appearance 2. Originality & Creativity 3. Difficulty 4. Precision 5. Theme. Theme should be your own and consistent. There is no overall theme for the competition. Judging will be at 5:00 pm and you do not need to be present to win. Prizes: • Adults: One year parking pass to all Virginia State Parks. • Teens: $25.00 gift card. • Youth: Gift basket • Child: Gift basket. There is no entry fee. The only fee is the parking fee required for all vehicles that visit Claytor Lake State Park.
