Lyric Theatre Late Night: The Dark Side of Oz:

Date: February 23, 2018
Time: 11:55 PM - 01:45 AM
Venue: Lyric Theatre
Cost: $5.00
Description: Lyric Theatre continues their Lyric Theatre Late Night series featuring "The Dark Side of Oz" starting at midnight on Friday, February 23, 2018 and Saturday, February 24, 2018.

It's the 45th anniversary of the release of the Pink Floyd album, "The Dark Side of the Moon", which went on to top the Billboard chart for a record 741 weeks from 1973 to 1988. And it's been 20 years since the phenomenon of synching the album to the movie "The Wizard of Oz" was widely reported in the media. The Lyric played the 35mm movie along with the CD album in January 1999. Now Lyric Theatre Late Night presents the classic album and classic movie together again for two midnight showings.

We'll have a program of synchronicities to watch for during the entire movie as the album plays 2.5 times. Examples include Dorothy balancing on a fence as the line "balanced on the biggest wave" in "Breathe," is sung, "which is which and who is who" from "Us and Them" as the witches bicker in Munchkinland, "lunatic is on the grass" from "Brain Damage" as the Scarecrow dances on the grass next to the Yellow Brick Road, and the heartbeat at the end of "Eclipse" sound as Dorothy listens to the Tinman's chest.

Sit back and enjoy these both the classic movie and classic album.

Tickets are $5.00.
