The Oak Grove Pavilion continues their 24th Annual Summer Music Sundays Concert Series featuring music from Waiting to Exhale on Sunday, July 8, 2018. Waiting to Exhale is an Americana band from Floyd, VA fronted by two women vocalists, both daughters of hard working Appalachian families with roots deep and long in the mountains of Virginia. Their songs through their emotional renditions tell a tale of their mountain families struggles and joys while blending together a haunting tapestry of harmonies and interplay in their vocals. They take you the listener to another place that you don't ever want to return from. And the foundation of that journey is cemented in place by their passionate stand up bass player and their creative journeyman guitarist and banjo player. The heart stops beating, the lungs grasp for breath, and while the song is in the air, you can only wait to exhale. All donations are collected throughout the summer and then distributed to non-profit organizations that serve Floyd County. The Oak Grove Pavilion is all about the community! Bring a picnic and light concessions will be available on site. Bring your lawn chairs or use chairs under the pavilion or our many picnic tables. The event is rain or shine. Since 1994 the Oak Grove Pavilion has been a summer entertainment venue which has hosted a wide variety of family friendly music and drama events. The "season" begins in early June and ends in late August and this year the concerts are on Sunday afternoons starting at 4:00 pm. Music is made possible by Floyd businesses and individual sponsors. The Oak Grove Pavilion is located behind the historic Zion Lutheran Church in a stand of old oaks located at 635 Needmore Lane in Floyd, VA.
