Description: The 83rd Newport Agricultural Fair will be held on Friday, August 10, 2018 and Saturday, August 11, 2018 on the grounds of the Newport Recreation Center in Giles County, VA.

Built on traditions, the Newport Fair is Virginia’s oldest Agricultural Fair celebrating life the way it was, and blending a touch of the past with our present while teaching others for the future.

Enjoy lots of traditional agriculture fair contest categories to enter including produce, baking, sewing & fancy work, flower show, arts, crafts & hobbies, good food, live music, displays, events, vendors, friends and community! And don't forget our fireworks on Saturday night!

Saturday Schedule:
• 9:00 am: Fun Horse Show
• 10:00 am: Children's Games (Ages 1-9)
• 10:00 am - 3:00 pm: Live Raptor & Reptile Exhibit
• 12:00-5:00 pm: Rolling Hills Farm Experience
• 1:00 pm: Children's Games (Ages 10+)
• 1:30 pm: History of Newport Presentation (Newport Rec Center Auditorium)
• 2:00 pm: Old Time Forestry Field Day and Competition
• 3:00 pm: Cake Walk inside Cafeteria
• 5:00 pm: Jousting Tournament
• 7:00-10:30 pm: Live Music from Half Throttle
• ~9:00 pm: Fireworks (at dusk)

In order to make the Children's Games contests run smoothly, participants will need to sign up prior to the 10:00 am and 1:00 pm sessions to enter. Events include a spring, dash, hop and egg & spoon race, wheel barrow race, sack race and more. Age groups are 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13 & above.

Enjoy a free slide presentation of the history of Newport from Doug Martin titled "Up in the Holler, Down on the Run" inside the Newport Recreation Center Auditorium at 1:30 pm.

The Old Time Forestry Field Day competitions include two person crosscut saw, log splitting, one person bow saw for both men and women respectively and mixed couple crosscut saw and poll toss.

All exhibits will be located downstairs and in the Rescue Squad Hall.

There will be a free shuttle from the First Christian Church to the Newport Ball Park, on Friday from 6:00 pm until midnight and on Saturday from 9:00 am until midnight.

In case of rain, only individual outdoor events may be affected, all other events will proceed as scheduled.

All pets entering the fairgrounds must be caged or leashed.
