Mill Mountain Zoo presents Brew at the Zoo on Saturday, October 6, 2018. Join us for the last Brew at the Zoo of the 2018 season! This relaxing event will give our guests an opportunity to see our animals and the view from the mountain while enjoying cold beer from the popular local brewery, Twin Creeks Brewing Company. Musical entertainment will be provided by the local bluegrass band Mason’s Creek. Plus, you’ll want to bring your appetite with you and get some tasty dinner at the Mountain Grille food truck! Mason Creek features four artists of traditional, acoustic, bluegrass-music style. Based out of the Roanoke Valley, Virginia area, Mason Creek cites their many obvious local and legendary musical influences. The band is able to journey into a realm of their own, while still maintaining the spirit of sounds created within the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. The four friends, with their combined musical taste of traditional bluegrass, quickly realized that the fun and laughs never stopped. Founded in the Summer of 2015, Mason Creek was formed. Featuring veteran local performers, Gary John— lead vocal and driving rhythm guitar; Shannon Wheeler’s notoriously wicked fiddling; along with JW Meade's enforcement of solid acoustic bass playing lays a strong foundation for the driving Scruggs’ style banjo of youngest member, Brandon Dickerson. The cost for adults is $15.00 for non-members and $10.00 for members and includes a drink ticket. For youth 21 and under, the cost is $7.00. Adults who purchase a Mill Mountain Zoo collectible commemorative cup will receive one free drink ticket.
