Blacksburg Sustainability Week 2018: Sustainable Farm and Brewing Tour with Masa Monday:

Date: September 24, 2018
Time: 5:00 - 8:00 PM
Venue: Glade Road Growing
Organizations: Sustainable Blacksburg
Description: As part of Blacksburg Sustainability Week 2018, Glade Road Growing presents a Sustainable Farm and Brewing Tour on Monday, September 24, 2018.

Glade Road Growing is a small family-run vegetable and animal farm in the town limits of Blacksburg. Our farm’s goal is to organically grow nutrient-dense food while cultivating a thriving living soil system. We will talk you though how we do what we do as we walk the fields.

JP will walk the garden and talk veggie shop and a separate group will cruise with Sally through the animal kingdom whic includes turkeys, ducks, chicks, pigs and livestock guardian dog. Ask us any and all your burning questions about farming organically here in the town limits of beautiful Blacksburg. If we don't know the actual answers, we'll at least make up something witty.

After the farm tour Rising Silo Brewery will also lead a short demonstration explaining their sustainable brewing techniques.

Tabula Rasa, our farm kitchen, will have a made-from scratch dinner for our regular Masa Monday available for purchase. Proceeds benefit the SNAP double value program at the Blacksburg Farmers Market.

Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear.

Tour is rain or shine.

NOTE: The event was originally scheduled for Monday, September 17, 2018 and was postponed due to the threat of Hurricane Florence.

Blacksburg Sustainability Week, a collaboration between Sustainable Blacksburg, the Town of Blacksburg and Virginia Tech is celebrating its 12th year in 2018.
