Description: The Hahn Horticulture Garden at Virginia Tech presents the class "Not Tonight Deer: No More Long-Legged Rats in Your Garden" on Saturday, March 16, 2019.

Suburban, rural, and even urban gardens can be devastated by our huge population of deer. In this class you'll learn 1) which deer-resistant plants to choose, 2) several types of attractive and cost-effective fences and 3) repellents to use keep your garden free of deer. Frank has created gardens that are growing well and free of deer damage. Frank will guide attendees using slides, stories, a handout and Q&A on how to plant gardens that the deer will pass by (woe be unto your neighbor).

Frank Hyman earned a degree in horticulture and design from NCSU where he studied under the late, great Dr. JC Raulston. He owns an award-winning garden design business in Durham NC. Frank's writing has appeared in Organic Gardening, Fine Gardening, Modern Farmer, Chickens, Horticulture magazine and others. He is the author of Hentopia: Create Hassle-Free Habitat for Happy Chickens; 21 Projects.
