Date: March 16, 2019
Time: 1:00 - 2:30 PM
Venue: Hahn Horticulture Garden (Virginia Tech)
Cost: General Public: $20.00 Friends of the Garden: $15.00

Description: The Hahn Horticulture Garden at Virginia Tech presents the class "Create your own Hentopia" with Frank Hyman on Saturday, March 16, 2019.

Frank’s wife says that they spend less time on chores than they spend cooking eggs. Frank can help you learn how to easily manage the feed, water, poop, eggs and other hen issues in a way that allows you to safely take two-week vacations (without a chicken-sitter). Your birds and their hen habitat will happily and safely operate on autopilot while you’re away.

The class is a slideshow with a couple of low-tech demos of a self-filling waterer and a rodent-proof feeder. There will be plenty of time for Q&A and Frank’s new book "Hentopia: Create Hassle-Free Habitat for Happy Chickens; 21 Projects" will be for sale.

Frank Hyman is a carpenter, metalworker and designer. He writes the Coop Builder and Chicken Feed Café columns for Chickens magazine. He has worked with cattle, loggerhead sea turtles, free-ranging rhesus monkeys and he even lasted one day on a commercial egg farm. His book Hentopia has only been out one month, but the first printing of 13,000 copies is already sold out and they’ve begun a second printing. Learn morre at www.frankhyman.com

Cost to attend is $15.00 for Friends of the Garden and $20.00 for the General Public.
